Biggest Issues Heading into Bye Week
1) I'm of the opinion that our biggest issue on defense is our NT presence. While I would obviously love to have Roquan back, it's becoming more and move obvious that losing John Atkins is the bigger loss. There is currently no one along the DL that is demanding 2 bodies on a consistent basis which is not allowing the LBs to do their job. Opposing OL are able to get to the second level more consistently than last year. Need to grow up and get stronger there for us to improve.
2) Offensive game planning / cohesion. This one is obvious. Our play calling is sporadic and frustrating and everyone just seems lost. We need to understand our strengths and weaknesses and adjust accordingly. I'm not of the opinion really that our OL has massively underperformed or anything. I just think we aren't playing to their strengths and when Fromm is off we are out leveraged across the line. I've said this a bunch of times on here - you cannot reasonably hope to block 7-9 guys with 5-7 players in the SEC. It's not going to work. It's especially not going to work if you are running directly into the teeth of that front. Your only hope is that you out flank the 9-man look. That's why it's important for Fromm and the receivers / TEs to get on the same page and for Chaney/Coley to allow for quick developing pass plays to loosen up the defense.
3) Fromm has to get better within the pocket and regain his confidence. He's going through a bit of a sophomore slump. No doubt.
