Comparasion of Georgia & Tennessee football in the 2000's
I was discussing Nebraska and Tennessee football with a friend this afternoon. We were talking about the downhill fall of the Cornhuskers and Vols and how time slips up on you and you don't realize how long it has been since either squad had a real good team.
I decided to compare the Vols to Georgia over this time span (2000-2018). Here's how it lays out:
Winning Pct: Georgia-75% Tennessee-58%
Bowls: Georgia-19 Tennessee-12
Big Bowls- Georgia 3-2. I didn't count the NC game against Bama. Tennessee-0
Bowl Record: Georgia 13-6 Tennessee-6-6
Division titles: Georgia-7 Tennessee-3
SEC titles: Georgia-3 Tennessee-0
Top 10 finishes: Georgia- 10 times Tennessee- 1 and it was 2001
Huge difference in the programs. I hope we keep it up. BTW, the series record during this time is 13-6 in favor of the Dawgs.
In case you were curious, here are the numbers on the Cornhuskers of Nebraska:
Winning Pct. 63%
Big Bowls; 0-1 The 2002 Rose Bowl against Miami
Bowl record: 7-8
Division titles: 4
Conference titles- zero
Top 10: two times, 2000 and 2001
They haven't finished the season ranked since 2012. Not exactly the old Nebraska teams of Devaney and Osborne.
