Regarding the problems for pubs, you mention Webb who is the democratic problem. 20 or 25 years ago, he would have garnered a lot of support (including mine). Today he can't even get heard by the new breed of dems.
If there is a break in the pub party, expect the same from the dems. There use to be a lot of conservative dems that believed gov't had a role in the advancement/improvement of America. Those folks are no longer being heard.
The same holds true in the pub party. Like you, I broke with the party after the Reagan election. His policies along with the two Bush prezes have hurt this nation. Obama has shown that irresponsibility is not limited to one party.
There is no longer fiscal responsibility on either side.
If the break ever comes, expect a pouring in from both the moderate pubs and conservative dems. It can't get here soon enough.
In the meantime I have to give an ear to the man who I think has a plan. If it's rhetoric, then it will be the same thing we've had for the past 35 years with the exception of Clinton. I already know the other candidates already are in other peoples pockets.
