That sux,....
and I certainly understand your position. But the reality of "old school" -v- "new school" would have taken place regardless of ACA. Most private sector businesses are heavily invested in IT expansion, healthcare is one that has lagged behind but is making up ground rapidly. With all the "protected health information" issues, coupled with insurance, Medicaid and Medicare filing requirements, as well as the internal need to streamline and increase the efficacy of health records, the handwriting; pardon the pun, was on the wall for "old school Docs" that didn't/wouldn't invest in the expanded technology.
Before I was in healthcare, I was in Emergency Management and saw the same evolution with 911 to E-911, to E-911/CAD, to the latest twist called Nex-Gen 911. Each change left many "old school employee's" in it's wake because they couldn't/wouldn't evolve with the technology. Regardless of the prefix, 911 is still a very viable platform for emergency services...
See what I did there?!!?....
