Another big factor...
LSU is relevant again. When he committed to UGA, the LSU program was thought to be down the tubes. Line was 7.5 for wins on the season. Coach O was unable to hire a name OC, instead gave the job to his TE coach, and was on hottest seat in SEC. Was easy to negative recruit in LA.
Now LSU is in the spotlight, having a good season he can stay home and have a chance at winning something.
LA is not GA. UGA don't have room for all the talent in GA while LSU needs all the talent in LA plus others. LSU thus holds on and continues to recruit committed locals while UGA can just move on to the next one.
