Tamu has IMO found a coach that will eventually get them into the top echelon. They have incredible talent in nearby Houston area and aren't far from Dallas.

They are now spending massive $$$$$$$$$ pursuing success. Contract for HC was $75mil. Offered LSU's DC $3mil/yr. Expanded stadium for $400mil. No problem, had it all already in their back pocket and willing to spend whateer it takes.

AU, IMO, will be as you said, on the fringe. They will in the future be #6 in the pecking order but having to play second fiddle to bama in their own state will kill them. Also they will not be able to get as much talent from GA now with Smart ruling.

Oh, don't worry about the relatively low number of recruits committed so far; Kirby is not recruiting, he is selecting, and he has the luxury of waiting to see which star he takes.

As for schedule, only LSU plays 3 of those projected 5 every year while bama plays only 2. LSU is farked, UTn and UF ain't comparable. Is hard enuf to have to compete w/ bama w/o having a schedule disadvantage.
