The team figured that we were going to blow South Carolina out, why should they show any effort. Poor offensive coaching. 12 noon start and a late arriving crowd that didn't make much noise until the 4th quarter. South Carolina has us as their 32 rival and they aren't on our radar. We just looked lethargic. Even our 4th quarter drives were slow moving, running the play clock almost every play.

The two things that worried me the most were (1) How good are we? In the previous games we looked good for a quarter or a half which was enough to win. A lot of those times we haven't looked like much. (2) Our offensive play calling. Yesterday we ran three plays. Up the middle on 1st and 2nd down. A fade or back shoulder throw on 3rd. Just no imagination on offense. No nothing. Didn't even try to run outside. Are we scared that James Cook can't carry the ball? No hurry up, no nothing.

When we line up, 80% of the crowd can tell what we are going to do. A good example is when Cook is in the game. We are going to send him in motion and will (a) throw it to him on a screen (b) fake the screen and run up the middle (c) or rarely throw the other way.

I think it is Kirby wanting to "impose our will". Didn't work yesterday.
