How do y'all feel about the current state of this series?

When I was a kid in elementary school in Dekalb County in the 1960's I remember the rivalry being hot and about 1/2 Tech fans and 1/2 UGA fans among the kids at school. I was gone from the state in the 1970's and 80's and when I returned things had changed.

I still hate Tech, but the game has changed so much. Now it's like when we played South Carolina and Clemson in the 1960's. If you win, ho-hum. If you lose, total disaster. While I really enjoyed yesterday, I wonder if Tech will ever be a big rival.

Some people talk about playing them early, like the season opener. I'm against that myself. Some talk about playing Tech in a rotation with unknown OOC schools. I don't see that happening.

I can see Collins improving them and some his goofiness becoming annoying (money down, above the line, juice squad, etc.) but with the state of the Yellow Jacket's fan base I don't see the rivalry heating too much up. And maybe that's a good thing. Heavens know, we don't need more tough rivalry games. But you also have the problem of ejections, fights, and late hits on our players at a bad time of the year.

I know that I'm just rambling along (no pun intended), but what are your views?

One thing to keep in mind is that if we quit playing Tech, Who do we play the last week of the regular season? A steady diet of UMass and BYU? A bit of a stretch, Notre Dame (do you really want to go to South Bend in November). I don't see the Irish doing this more than about once. UK or Vandy if the Wildcats can convince Louisville to play earlier in the season?
