Pretty much the same for Alabama. They were a little better than LSU during those years (except '82) but I'm pretty certain we would have handled them too.

We played every one else in the SEC and won every game.


But yeah, regarding scheduling, it does suck. It's mostly a by-product of conference expansion. I am still not crazy about Mizzou & A&M being in conf. We should have stayed with 12 teams - 6 per division - and added a 9th conf game when we went to a 12 game schedule. That way you would play every team in your division, plus your historical 2 cross-div opponents (Aub & Ole Miss for us) plus you'd rotate the other four cross-division teams twice every 4 years. Playing only 8 conference games with 14 conference members just screws everything up from a balanced scheduling perspective.
