I think that players took the comment as being . . .

about a hundred+ years from now as a statement of the positives one's faith and not about the negatives of accomplishment related memorabilia.

Many folks do not understand how competitive MR was and is because he wants to BOTH Win on the field AND to be true to his faith; and not EITHER / OR . . .

Just my 0.02 worth . . .
