Our idiot lawmakers have made the term "felony" completely useless

If I'm looking to hire someone, I don't want someone who has a history of assaulting people, robbing, etc. But I would consider someone who made a dumb mistake as a kid. Unfortunately our moron legislators and law enforcers have made that determination impossible from just the use of the word felony.
