Yeah, riders can be crazy...


...but I've also heard that some of the crazier stuff is meant to alert the artist to the venue's attention to detail or lack thereof.

Take the Van Halen brown M&M's thing, which I've was the result of a mishap at a crappy venue. Their manager got the idea to request M&M's, but to leave out the brown ones so he could ascertain whether the venue paid attention to detail.

I'm told the tube of KY lube they requested was for reals, though.
