OK< Richt had us 8-12 range in recruiting rankings the last few years.

Recruiting rankings are OK to a point. But when your overall rankings are boosted by signing a bunch of great tight ends and running backs, but no offensive tackles or receivers, what good does it do you?

Richt was always on razor thin ice on OL recruiting. We usually never had more than 7 serviceable OL (not great) and usually 5 or 6.

In a way it reminds me of Baylor in the 1990's. The Bears had terrible teams but would finish 2 to 4 range in the old Big 12. How did they do it?

They would sign 8 to 10 great players who had zero chance to qualify academically. Baylor was hoping after their Junior College days they would return to Waco. Most faded out, went to jail or went elsewhere. That's how a highly regarded recruiting team could finish last in the Big 12 every year.
