It's harder to keep up a higher completion percentage when you're throwing more passes. But that may be why you notice more bad throws - because he had more throws total (more attempts, more completions, and more incompletions). People tend to remember the negative.

But make no mistake, Stafford sprayed it all over the yard his Freshman season. His stats prove that.

You are right about the "especially at the end of the season" part, though. Stafford improved as the season went on moreso than Eason did (and I'm not sure how much Eason did improve, if at all).
