In '93 there was a lot of pressure on TD to replace Garrison & contine the Hampton/Worley/Tate pipeline. The first 5 games of '93 he was absolutely living up to that. He had over 100 yds in 4/5 of those games & a couple were around 130/140. He was on pace to lead the SEC & contend for AA.

The problem was our defense was so atrocious we started 1-4. The coaches decided that our only hope to salvage the season was to have Zeier throw it 40/50 times a game. So Terrell went from getting 20/25 carries a game to getting 8/12. He wound up with 850 yds or so.

Then of course in '94 he injured his hamstring & got in Goff's dawghouse big time. Hines Ward spent some time at TB & Terrell stayed on the bench even when he was healthy toward the end of the year. In the "Tailback U" video, there's a scene in the RB meeting room prior to the Auburn game where David Kelly tells Terrell... "There's some coaches in this room that want to see what you can do." (Obliquely referring to Goff's benching of him.)

Then TD finally got the ball again & went for 120 yds & a couple of scores vs auburn. That was key bc Terry Bowden was so impressed (I think he also coached him in the Sr Bowl that year) that he recommended Terrell to the Broncos scout that wound up drafting him. The recommendation overcame the blackballing that Goff had done in other quarters. TD got a chance and the rest is history. Congrats to him!
