I liked Kirby because he is an alum
This was important to me because:
- he would be highly motivated to win not as not just a personal challenge to himself or to chase a massive raise, but also because it means something to him to do it for our school and our fans (aka, the Spurrier Doctrine Part A)
- our beefs are his beefs - he knows our rivalries to his bones; he knows that the WLOCP is huge not just because we recruit against the Gators, but BECAUSE they are the @#%$in Gators (aka, the Spurrier Doctrine Part B)
- if he is wildly successful he’s far less likely to start looking around for “the next big challenge” and more likely to see maintaining his success in Athens AS his next big challenge (aka, the reverse of the Meyer Doctrine)
