My take on the AllBarn loss,...
Before the season began, many herein predicted the Dawgs would lose between 2-3 games. My prediction was 9-3, with a loss to ND, UT/UF and AllBarn. I was extremely happy to run the table up to our annual grudge match with the Barners, but was still very cautious in believing we would complete the season undefeated. Simply put, I'm not surprised!
Granted, I would have much rather lost to the Barners in the typical, white knuckle, game ending fashion, but this is college ball where anything can and will happen. AllBarn had everything on the table, while the Dawgs had already clinched the East and was being lauded by the vapid sports media as a real contender...I think we may have purchased stock in
the prevailing narrative.
So, the Barners whipped our butt! And as quickly as the sports media jumped aboard the UGA band wagon, they jumped off, with extreme and redundant prejudice. Fine! As CKS has stated rather often, "you're only a week away from humility." We will all see what this team is made of on Saturday against Kentucky and a week later against Yech!
Had this ship still been under the command of Captain Christian, I suspect we would be closer to my preseason prediction than we currently are. I love what I've seen from the Dawgs thus far and yah, they stunk it up on Saturday, but the season is far from over! The play-offs are still within our grasp and rather than hoping for some illogical scheme of opponents losing so that we can back into the SECC, we are already in! We will either get an opportunity to avenge a play ending loss in an earlier SECC, or a chance to prove that Saturday was an outlier.
IMVHO, it's a refreshing change from the mediocrity of the past!
GO DAWGS!!!
