I get the feeling a lot, if not the majority of Tech fans would just a soon not play Georgia. The cultural dissonance between the two schools has really grown over the years. Tech is a small, elite school with a very diverse STEM-oriented (read Asian/Indian) student body. Uga is still the prototypical good ole boy, southern, large state school. I think the disconnect between and disdain for each other makes it hard to enjoy the rivalry for the all the hatred. Of course maybe that makes it better, too - a real 'us vs them' affair.

We hate other schools plenty too, but our fanbase has a lot in common otherwise with those fan bases. Not much separates the typical Au-Uga fan other than the colors they choose to wear on saturdays.

Add in Tech's built in competitive disadvantage, which may ultimately play a role, and if the game suddenly becomes harder to schedule I don't think many folks on either side would put up much of a fight to keep the game.
