You might be completely right...


The problem is that one year isn't enough of a sample size to draw a definitive conclusion on Smart. It just isn't enough time to make the kind of judgment that you're making. He wasn't impressive this year, and will definitely have to field a better team going forward. My view is that year-two is often - not always, but often - a point where coaches make leaps in getting production out of their players. Can Smart make the leap in year two that Saban did at Bama, or Chizik at Auburn, or Richt at UGA, or Urban at UF? I have my doubts.
