How big of an in-state area does Georgetown have? Two and a half states’ worth? I’ll give you DC & Maryland, but not Virginia. Maybe the DC suburbs in the north-east corner like Alexandria & Arlington, etc. But Oak Hill is way down on the North Carolina line in the south west part of the state. It’s farther from Georgetown than North Florida is from Athens. Obviously Dunbar in Baltimore and Dematha right there in DC count, and don’t forget Montrose Christian in Rockville. But given that area, Georgia produces more top 125-150 guys and certainly more 5-star guys. And with the factories like Dematha, Oak Hill, etc, those kids come from all over the country and usually only play there a year or two. They don’t have the ties to nearby schools like kids who grew up in the area do. Plus the coaches try to send the kids all over the country to improve the school’s national brand. Furthermore, DC as well as the other areas you mention: Ca, Ill, NY/NJ, Fla & Tx, all have multiple large Universities. We only compete with tech in-state. For a flagship State University, it’s hard to beat UGA’s recruiting situation.
