I had the opportunity to teach a class Hines took..
and he was sharp, quick witted, and a fun person to be around. It was hard being a professor and at the same time a fan. I ran into him multiple times in Pennsylvania when I worked out of Harrisburg but gave talks and did fundraising in Pittsburgh. And a few years back, when we lived in east Cobb, I ran into him when grabbing pizzas for the kids and he was his usual self and still recognized me without a pause. But you can tell he was a competitor. His eyes gave him away. I would not want to be on the opposite side of him in a ring with gloves on.
