Kirby has to mostly clean house. He has to. Despite the fact that there seems to be a recent rift b/w the two, Lilly was more of "Richt's guy" than any of the others. Making a position-to-position comparison is the wrong way to approach it, imo. We should take the staff en toto.

Having said that, this is a great hire. I live in Columbia & can tell you Beamer was probably Spurrier's most respected assistant when he left to join his dad's staff. He was a star recruiting coordinator for the cocks and his STs were great. They still talk about him every year. Wish I had a dime for every time i've heard a gamecock fan or analyst wish to have him back.

There was actually a serious push for Beamer to be considered for HC when Spurrier retired. This is a great hire on a great staff.
