Our old "friend" Pepper Rodgers. That was the game where Kansas had 12 men


on the field on the 2 point try (and TD too I believe). Penn State made it on a second try to win 15-14.

Southern Cal had a tie with Notre Dame. We had ties with Tennessee and Houston.

I'm pretty sure that the Orange Bowl had the tie-in with the Big 8 at the time, so we would have played Kansas (9-1 ??) if we had gone to the Orange.

Remember that everybody at the time thought Penn State and Eastern football were weak?

The Cotton Bowl had Texas and Tennessee, with the Longhorns rolling over the Vols.

The good ol' days of the Big 4 Bowl games on New Year's Day.
