And yes, their was a bias against eastern teams. Didn't Jo Pa go undefeated the next year also with no MNC?

Used to love watching the Big 4 on New Year's Day, one of the great hangover remedies - just veg out with some quality football all day. And other then New Years, there were only about 5 or 6 other bowls (Peach, Gator, Sun, etc) - all between XMas & NYD. No 6-5 teams in bowls back then.

I was thinking the Orange didn't sign the official agreement with the Big 8 until a couple years later in the 70's, even though Oklahoma had played there the year before. I could be remembering that incorrectly though.
