It's all subjective, but I don't really see how anybody can't call his 1st year an "accomplishment". Miami has been a trailer park fire for the better part of 20 years. Except for 2001-2004, they've fluctuated between decent and garbage. And it's pretty easy to see how they fell to that point.

They were a renegade program who cheated their tail off and never played anybody, so when they got caught in that Pell Grant scandal, and then upgraded their schedule by joining the ACC (yes, as bad as the ACC is, it was a huge upgrade to Miami's schedule), they couldn't keep up. Could see it coming a mile away.

But the state of Miami's program is really neither here nor there. The point is what, if anything, has Richt changed, and perhaps more importantly, why? I think he has gotten a bit of a recharge, and lost that complacency he had here. And maybe some of that is because he feels Miami has a lower tolerance for complacency.

And that begs the bigger question: why was he allowed to get so complacent here? That may be a question that some of us don't really want to hear the answer to.
