It was well past time for Richt to go. I was pretty vocal about that. He's a great guy, but it was pretty obvious that he was a good-but-not-great coach. Actually I thought he stayed a few years too long. And that's my concern. My allegiance isn't necessarily with any coach - or against any coach - rather with the University of Georgia. And imo, we tend to keep coaches longer than we should after it's apparent they've plateaued. We kept Donnan probably a year too long. Goff two years too long. Look at Bama, they gave Perkins & Curry 3-4 years each (even though Curry won the SEC) before finding Stallings. Then they gave DuBose/Franchione/Shula about the same before finding Saban (even though DuBose won the SEC). Same with Florida wrt Zook and Muschamp. Even now, the consensus is we've plateaued with Fox - which wasn't apparent until this year - and everyone wants him gone.

And no, I don't hate Kirby. He seems like a good guy. Doesn't mean he's a great coach. I'd love nothing more than to see him prove me wrong, and I'll gladly admit it if he does. But expecting improvement isn't unrealistic at all. We darned sure don't need to lose to Vanderbilt or tech, or struggle with the likes of Missouri, USC, and whatever tomato can we trot out non-conference. We've underachieved for way too long, and making excuses for mediocrity is part of the problem.

So you think winning the East is unrealistic? Neither Fla nor ufk are dominating. You think they're going to stay this down for long? We've out-recruited everyone in the division over the last 4 years. From the West we've got Miss St, who was next to last, and Auburn, who we've beaten 9 of 11 and have the road field advantage. If not next year, when?

Oh yeah, and nice little name-calling there. Talk about petulant.
