Try catching the point

I mentioned McElwain at Colorado St because he improved the program IN HIS FIRST YEAR. He took over a 3 win program, and won 4 games. He then continued to improve. Kirby, on the other hand, lowered the program IN HIS FIRST YEAR. He took over a 10 win program and won only 8. Will he improve from here? Maybe so, but history suggest it won't be by much - not enough to win SEC Championships. That's not irrelevant.

And Kirby absolutely could have brought Eason along more gradually than he did. Case in point is the Ole Miss game. Tough for a Fr to start on the road, and he was totally confused. He missed a LOT of reads that historically Lambert did not. Still might not have won the game, but could have avoided the embarrassing blowout.
